Number of Daily Access to Taipei Real-time Bus Information System Reached 2 Million Times
The Taipei Real-time Bus Information System was established to encourage the public to travel by public transportation system. The information can be accessed by various ways, including the Internet, cell phone and telephone. The number of daily times accessing this system has reached 2 million. In Taipei City, 772 smart bus stops have been established that provide bus arrival times at each stop, and there will be more bus stops set up.
As commented by the Public Transportation Office, the bus information system can be accessed by several ways to find scheduled bus arrival times, including smart bus stops, the bus information website (http://5284.taipei.gov.tw), cell phone and telephone (02-2728-5284). The private sector is allowed to apply for developing bus information APP software using this system. The application is free of charge, and it has attracted 67 companies to make the application. Based on the statistics made in June of this year, the number of daily access times for real-time bus information has exceeded 2 million in average. The service of private sectors in connection to the system contributed 50% of this number.
According to the reports and relevant statistics regarding Taipei city bus service quality and review, the most frequently used way to access the system is “checking LED digital board of bus stops”, accounting for 95.5%; about 82.1% of bus passengers find the system to be satisfactory. The Public Transportation Office stressed that the office will continue to upgrade the real-time bus information quality, and establish more smart bus stops. It is expected to complete the establishment of 480 smart bus stops in 2014. The public will have more convenience in accessing bus arrival information.
