The Third Run of Intercity Bus Routes between Taipei City and New Taipei City Confirmed
The Transportation Department of New Taipei City Government has worked with the corresponding department of Taipei City Government in 2012 to launch the first run of five intercity bus routes going between the two cities. The intercity bus service has won positive public feedback. In May 2013, the average number of passengers traveling on each of the bus routes was about 21,000. On March 26, 2013, the Intercity Bus Route Review Committee approved four intercity bus routes including “New Taipei City Zhonghe District – Taipei Neihu Technology Park” (Zhongxing Bus Company), “New Taipei City Shengkeng District – MRT Guting Station” (Zhinan Bus Company), “New Taipei City Linkou District – Songshan Airport” (San Chung Bus Company) and “New Taipei City Linkou District – Taipei Neihu Technology Park” (San Chung Bus Company). The intercity bus will begin to operate on these four bus routes sometime between November 2013 and February 2014.
To continue provide more convenient bus service to residents in New Taipei City and Taipei City for purposes of studying, working, visiting and recreation, the Transportation Department of New Taipei City Government again cooperated with the corresponding department of Taipei City Government to plan intercity bus routes going between the two cities on high ways or overpasses to where in need of the transportation service. The two departments today (September 16) held a bus route review committee meeting, and announced the 3rd run of intercity bus routes between the two cities. A total of 3 bus companies proposed 3 new bus routes, which were reviewed together by the “New Taipei City Bus Operation Review Committee” and “Taipei City Bus Route Review Committee”. Two of the approved bus routes were “Xindian – National Highway No. 3 – Nankang – Xizhi” (Zhongxing Bus Company, Zhinan Bus Company) and “Wanli – National Highway No. 1 – Daan District – Banciao” (Keelung Bus Company). The intercity bus traveling on these two bus routes will be available at the end of this year before the mileage fee charge takes effect. The third approved bus route was “Sanxia – National Highway No. 3 – National Taipei University (Taipei Campus)” (Taipei Bus). Intercity bus is expected to operate on this bus route in September in 2013 that will reduce the time traveling between the two cities. The speedy bus transportation service will set the milestone of bus transportation service between the two cities.
