Handicapped parking service: an active, heartfelt move well received by the public
Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office (hereafter known as “the Office”) said the implementation of handicapped parking spaces at Shilin District’s Chengde Car Park, Xinyi’s District’s Zhongxin Car Park and Xinyi School Car Park since early 2013 has been well received by disabled citizens. At present, the Office has expanded such facilities to 64 car parks; the process will be successively completed in 2014.
The Office said that for the convenience of disabled citizens, the handicapped parking spaces in public car parks are all allocated beside elevators. To prevent the handicapped parking spaces from being misused by the public, the spaces were installed with service bells, warning signs and detection systems early this year (2013). Since the installation of the signs and detection systems, there have been no cases of the handicapped spaces being used by the general public. All in all, the implementation of this active parking service has been well received by many disabled citizens.
Bicycles are prohibited at the arcade.
Cyclists are advised to say “Excuse me!” before passing pedestrians, and “Thank you!” when slowly passing by on the left side.
