12 low-floor buses operated under Bus 642 on September 7, 2016

A total of 12 Sindian Bus operated low-floor buses were available, and officially operated under Bus 642 on September 7, 2016. These buses made a great contribution to the total number of low-floor buses and bus service routes in Taipei City, giving a total number of 2,658 low-floor buses (including 107 hybrid-electric low-floor buses). Low-floor buses accounted for 75.7% of all Taipei City buses that is, a well established low-floor bus service network in Taipei City. Featured with ergonomic design, the 12 low-floor buses were designed for the elderly, people with disabilities, pregnant women and general public. They were installed with special devices to assist people with impaired hearing and vision, and foreign tourists in accessing to bus departure and arrival information; these devices included bus stop announcement device, display panel and exterior announcement system. On these buses, there posted with new posters showing bus routes. Real-time bus information system was also installed on each of these buses, allowing passengers to easily look up bus arrival time.
On each of these new low-floor buses, there were two seats for wheelchair passengers, and each seat had safety seat belts for immobilizing wheelchair’s four wheels. Wheelchair passengers could easily access to an emergency button, and talk to the driver by pressing the button. To assure that the buses were conveniently accessible for people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women and children, priority seats in red were available on the left-hand side from the rear door, and about 1/3 of total seats were priority seats.
