Taipei City Buses running 15 trial bus routes will stop at each bus stop
The most common compliant passengers made about Taipei City Buses is “Buses not stopping at bus stops”, according to the Taipei Public Transportation Office. In response to this compliant, the Office ran a trial project on June 15, 2012. Bus drivers in this trial project should move to the outer lane in a queue, and slowly pull up buses at each bus stop if there are passengers waiting within bus stop zone, and observe whether any of the passengers wave their hands showing to get on buses before leaving the bus stop zone.
In the first stage, Bus 505 of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Bus 32 of the Capital Bus participated in this project, and no complaints about buses not stopping at bus stops were received. The running time from departure to destination of these buses were not much different (5 minutes more for Bus 505, and no time difference for Bus 32) so passengers taking these buses would not feel any differences. More buses including Bus East 0, Bus 290 (including secondary bus), Bus 550, Bus Blue 25, Bus 220, Bus 214 (including express), Buses 202, 629, 632, 205, Red 31, 647, Red 32 and Shuttle Bus 12 (including regional bus) joined in this project on August 8, 2012. Buses of a total of 15 bus routes stops at every bus stop.
According to the Taipei Public Transportation Office, bus companies running this project will display the information, “This bus stops at every stop” in buses for passengers to get familiar with the newly implemented service. Drivers would also explain this to passengers with a speaker while it is safe to do so. During this trial service period, the Office will collect people’s feedbacks for evaluation of this new service. Inspections will focus upon bus routes, which have been frequently complained about buses not stopping at bus stops. The Office expects these measures will solve this problem and protect passenger’s interests and rights.
