Aboriginal culture images displayed on Taipei city bus waiting pavilions
The Taipei Public Transportation Office wanted to give different images to bus waiting pavilions in Taipei City, and thus, selected two bus stops closed to aboriginal people exhibition hall for redecoration. They were the “National Palace Museum” station (toward west of Zhishan Road, Sec. 2) and the “Nankang Senior High School” station (toward south of Xiangyang Road). On these two bus waiting pavilions, aboriginal culture images were displayed.
The theme of the image at the “National Palace Museum” station was the “Aboriginal shine”. Inspired from aboriginal tribes, this art work focused on the clash between modern cities and aboriginal culture. It delivers the idea that aboriginal people strive to stand still while confronting with frustration and difficulties. They shine with their toughness. Image of the “Nankang Senior High School” station delivered the theme of “Aboriginal circles”. Every circle in the art work symbolizes individuals in the city who come from different places and grow up with different cultures. They had the chance to meet each other here. The art work tells us to respect and love each other, allowing diverse cultures to form a beautiful picture. The Office commented that depending on feedback received about these images, the Office will choose more bus stops to promote the concept.
