Taipei City special buses for prayers officially run on November 12, 2015

In response to the upcoming era of aging society, the Taipei Public Transportation Office launched special bus service on November 12, 2015 for senior citizens who wish to worship and pray at temples. The special buses were to be operated on the 1st and 15th day every month on lunar calendar, and on trial for three months. Thus, the service could be accessed on November 12, November 26, December 11 and December 25, 2015, and January 10 and January 24, 2016.
The special bus service was provided on two bus routes as follows:
(1) Zhinan Temple Line: Departed from Xinguang Station, the buses stop at Zhinan Temple, Ciyou Temple, Fengtian Temple and Xingtian Temple. At 9:00 and 12:00, the buses depart from MRT Taipei Zoo Station.
(2) Guandu Temple Line: Departed from Guandu Temple, the buses stop at Baoan Temple, Xingtian Temple and Longshan Temple. The buses depart at 8:00am and 10:00am from Guandu Temple and Longshan Temple at the same time.

Low-floor buses were chosen to provide the special bus service in favor of senior citizens, people with disabilities, pregnant women and general passengers. To access to the special bus services, people simply wait at existing bus stops. Fees are charged according to Taipei City bus standard. Senior citizens could easily visit temple for worship on the 1st and 15th day of each month on lunar calendar. On November 12, 2015, small gifts would be given to passengers on the special buses (subject to availability). Taipei citizens are welcome to access to the service.
