The 10th International Conference of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies Strives “Towards a Harmonized Transportation Society”
The 10th International Conference of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) will be held in Taipei September 9-12, 2013. More than 800 attendees from 33 countries will convene at the International Conference Center of the Chang Yung-fa Foundation building to discuss up-to-date technology and development trend within the transportation industry, with the number of participating attendees and countries breaking new records of previous years.
For four days, the EASTS and the Chinese Institute of Transportation will bring together a diverse group of experts, practitioners, and scholars to address concerns and discuss creative solutions for the challenges facing the transportation industry using the theme “Towards a Harmonized Transportation Society” as a guide. Sessions include burning topics such as, “International Comparison on High- Speed Railway Station Area Development – Japan, Taiwan and Korea”, “User-oriented Transportation Services for a Livable City” and “Transportation at Natural Disaster and Emergency in Eastern Asia”, etc.
The conference will feature keynote presentations by top government officials, as well as renowned experts in the transportation field including Dr. Chi-Kuo Mao, Vice Premier, Executive Yuan; Prof. Fred Mannering, Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious transportation journal – Analytical Methods in Accident Research; as well as Prof. Gang-Len Chang, recipient of Martin Marietta (currently called Lockheed-Martin) ITS research award; Founder of World Car Free Day - Eric Britton, CEO of 8-80 Cities – Gil Penalosa and other world famous experts is also invited to share precious thoughts and experiences.
The Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS), founded in November 28th, 1994, has now raised 17 members from different countries and areas, and Taiwan is one of the founders. Convened in every two years, the EASTS has no doubt become one of the important events for transportation in eastern Asia society. In its 20th year, the EASTS 2013 is proud to announce that approximately 600 submissions and 300 papers from 25 countries had been selected for presentation this year to stimulate all kinds of professional exchanges.
