The Service Charge for Parking Tickets in Taipei City
For citizens’ easy access to parking ticket payment services, Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office (hereinafter referred to as PMA) has continued to work together with convenience stores, banks, telecommunication service providers and MRT stations to collect parking fees by providing a variety of payment methods to avoid late payment. All handling charges have been budgeted by the PMA and will not be imposed on citizens. The PMA has been continually negotiating to lower handling charges with convenience stores; the current charge of NT$3.65 is the lowest in Taiwan.
According to the PMA, it is more convenient for citizens to pay the ticket via bank transfer than in convenience store; it can also avoid forgetting the due payment of the ticket. Citizens can check the unpaid roadside parking tickets after three days of billing on the “e-Bill” website or by downloading “iTaipei Parking” App on smart phone, and use an IC ATM card or a savings account to pay for parking online.
The PMA says they will continue to find more payment channels in order to provide more payment options. They will also negotiate a more favorable handling fee with payment service companies to reduce government spending and protect the public interest.
