The Department of Transportation of Taipei City Government and the same department of New Taipei City on April 8, 2016 invited the Consumer’s Foundation as well as experts and scholars with expertise in transportation to attend the first committee meeting. The meeting was intended for “negotiation on the bus transportation cost pricing, bus fare, and the shared ratios and subsidy for the price difference in Taipei City and New Taipei City”.
I. The meeting was for negotiation and the final decision would still rely upon the decision of each city government.
II. Agreement was made to implement the transportation price adjustment mechanism based on the floating fuel price. It was recommended to initiate the mechanism monthly.
III. It was recommended to announce the transportation price on the same day as the price adjustment mechanism initiated.
IV. Considering bus companies adjusted employees’ remuneration on April 1, 2016, it was recommended that the bus transportation price took effect on April 1, 2016.
V. As bus companies had adjusted their employees’ remuneration, it was recommended to have the adjusted amount of remuneration taken into account in the calculation of transportation cost.
It was recommended that future bus transportation cost pricing will be discussed at meetings held together by the two cities. The bus fare, transportation price and the shared ratios and subsidy for the difference between the transportation cost and bus fare in Taipei City and New Taipei City will be discussed at subsequent meetings.
