Free health checkups for vocational diseases for taxi drivers available since March 3, 2014
There was upcoming good news for taxi drivers in Taipei City. The free health checkups for vocational diseases would be open for enrolment to taxi drivers in Taipei City from March 3 to October 31 2014. All taxi drivers who resided and had license registered in Taipei City were eligible. Number of spaces was limited so be quick to enroll.
Commented by the Taipei Public Transportation Office, the free health checkups once again were available this year, intended to look after the health condition of taxi drivers. In addition to the testing particulars included in general health checkups, “C-reactive protein immunological test”, “Carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) test” and “pancreatic cancer PSA (for men)/ ovarian cancer CA125 (for women) tests” were also included because taxi drivers for characteristics of their work need to pay attention to urinary and cardiovascular diseases. It was expected to help taxi drivers find out their health problem as early as possible by the health checkups. With regular follow-ups, it’s promising to prevent the onset of cancer, heart disease and stroke while driving vehicles.
Four hospitals including Wan Fang Hospital, Country Hospital, Zhong Xin General Hospital and Pojen General Hospital were responsible for the health checkups, offered for 1,700 patients. Taxi drivers who would like to undergo the health checkups please bring identification card (residential registration in Taipei City), vocational driver license and valid taxi driver license to either the Taipei Taxi Service Office or Taipei Taxi Driver Association for enrollment after March 3. After approval, drivers can make an appointment for checkups with one of the aforementioned hospitals.
The Taipei Public Transportation Office finally appealed to taxi drivers to not only undergo regular health checkups, but also pay attention to health care and fitness as well as balanced diet and regular exercises, based on that you will be more capable to cope with heavier workload.
