No graffiti on traffic signs and markings
To construct a green traffic riding environment, Taipei City has been painting the markings of “pedestrian first” on bike-pedestrian sidewalks since August 2013. However, some ten places along Xinsheng S. Road and Jianguo S. Road have recently been found to have words scribbled such as “Ain’t you knocking down the vicious government?” and “knock down the government now”, etc. Taipei City Traffic Engineering Office notes that, according to Sub-paragraph 7 of Paragraph 1 of Article 82 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, a fine from NT$1,200 to NT$2,400 shall be imposed on those who place or alter traffic signs, markings, signals or other similar marks on roadways without permission, or on the employers of those violators. The Office has asked the police to reinforce the investigation, where the recordings from the surveillance camera at the peripheral areas will be reviewed as necessary. Those found damaging the environment will be subject to a fine.
To maintain the integrity of public facilities, the Office urges citizens not to take chances; otherwise, other than infringing other citizens’ rights and interests, they will also be fined.
