Taipei City Bus Student Ticket will be changed to named Easy Card in September 2014

Taipei City Bus will issue named Easy Card for students in September next year (2014) (one card for one holder only; holder of digital student card is allowed to apply for one named student Easy Card). The named Easy Card is intended to replace the currently used unnamed student Easy Card. Remaining sum will be refunded if the named student Easy Card is lost. Unlike the unnamed card, the new card provides protection to card holders. It also prevents the cards from being used by others than card holders. The unnamed student Easy Cards will be automatically converted to normal card in October 2015.
The Taipei City Bus fare is NT$15 for an adult, and students can have NT$3 discount every bus section if traveling on bus with student Easy Card. The discount is covered by the subsidy from Taipei City Government and New Taipei City Government. The preferential bus fare is intended to encourage students to travel by public transportation. Holders of unnamed student Easy Card can still have the NT$3 discount till September 2015 even when the named Easy Card is issued. The MRT special fare remains the same. The unnamed student smart cards can be returned by applying to EASYCARD Corporation for cash deposit and remaining sum.
In September 2014, named student Easy Card can be purchased at convenient stores. After purchasing students can register for personal named Easy Card by submitting personal information through EASYCARD Corporation’s website, multi-media machine in convenient stores, Smart Phone or Easy Card customer service counter. Students can use the new Easy Card immediately after purchasing and have special bus fare for 20 days from the first days swiping the card. Students however should submit personal information online within 5 days upon purchasing the card, in order to protect your interests and rights in access to the special bus fare. The EASYCARD Corporation will set the card’s expiry date according to student’s graduation year. Card holders will receive notification about the card application results by text or email. Students will be able to extend the special fare period by swiping your cards at convenient stores and MRT stations. Commented by the Taipei Public Transportation Office, the EASYCARD Corporation will consider application process that is convenient to applicants. Relevant advertisement will be released to the public by working with schools, bus companies and MRT.
