The intercity express bus 939 (Sanxia – Taipei city government) has been under planning for six month since it was approved on December 8, 2011 at the bus route review committee meeting held by the department of transportation of these two cities. The bus 939 departs in Sanxia District of New Taipei City, and travels through National Highway No. 3 Sanying Exit. After getting off at Ankeng Exit, it goes on Xindian Huanhe Road – Shuiyuan Highway – Keelung Road overpass – Dunhua South Road Sections 1-2 – Renai Road Section 4 – City Hall Road – Songgao Road – Songren Road – Songshou Road – Taipei City Government (See appendix for the bus route). This bus departs every 15-20 minutes during traffic peak time, 60 minutes during off-peak time and holidays. Fare is charged in three stages. One way of the bus takes about 1 hour that saves about 20-30 minutes from traveling by bus and MRT. It is free of charge before end of June.
A total of 8 new buses go this route. In addition to wireless Internet service, these buses are for the first time equipped with charging sockets, driving distance meter, lane deviation warning system and anti-sleep device. Same as to high speed rail, shown on LED at the front is the “estimated arrival time”, and major league baseball games are also played in the buses.
