Section 2, Hangzhou South Road (Aiguo East Road to Roosevelt Road) converted to two-way as of July 31, 2015
Hangzhou South Road, Taipei City, was formerly a northbound one-way road. To increase road use efficiency, and upon assessment of road capacity and service level by the Taipei City Traffic Engineering Office (TEO), Hangzhou South Road (Aiguo East Road – Roosevelt Road section) shall be converted into a two-way road as of July 31, 2015. The TEO appeals to road users to follow the road signs and markings and drive safely.
The TEO mentioned that the conversion of Hangzhou South Road’s traffic direction was in response to recommendations from the Xinying Village Office of Zhongzheng District, to resolve the problem of local residents having to detour to get home due to the traffic network. After reviewing the traffic flow assessment and discussing with local residents, Hangzhou South Road (Aiguo East Road – Roosevelt Road section) will be converted into a two-way road accordingly, where three lanes shall be allotted for northbound traffic and one for southbound traffic (as shown in the attached diagram). The TEO appeals to drivers to take note of the change in traffic direction. Upon completion, Hangzhou South Road (Aiguo East Road – Roosevelt Road section) shall be open for southbound vehicles, and road users are advised to drive carefully.
In addition, in consideration of the heavy traffic during the morning peak hours at Aiguo East Road and Hangzhou South Road intersection, left turns for westbound vehicles shall be prohibited from 7 am to 9 am. Also, traffic lights for southbound traffic shall also be implemented accordingly along Hangzhou South Road at Jinhua Street intersection, Chaozhou Street intersection and Roosevelt Road intersection. At the same time, controls shall be implemented in which southbound motorcyclists are prohibited from turning left directly (motorcyclists must make two-stage left turns) at Jinhua Street intersection and Chaozhou Street intersection. Relevant changes to control facilities shall be made on the night of July 30th. Upon completion, the road shall be open to traffic from both directions. Road users are advised to follow road signs and markings, as well as traffic light indications, in order to ensure traffic safety.
