Cyclists are advised to park their bikes at designated racks near MRT Daan Station
With the launch of MRT Xinyi Line, more people walk or cycle to transfer to the MRT. However, some commuters randomly park their bicycles at MRT exits or nearby arcades, not only affecting the City’s neatness, but also obstructing the passage of pedestrians.
Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office says that MRT Daan Station, being the junction of Xinyi Line and Wenhu Line, sees a high bike-and-ride demand. Hence, 159 bicycle parking racks were installed near the station when the line was first launched. With the launch of the line, it has attracted a high number of bike-and-ride commuters, and many park illegally at arcades and sidewalks. After conducting field surveys, it was determined that a total of 280 parking racks are required. Hence, it was decided to add another 115 bicycle racks (a total of 274 racks) at Exits 2, 3 and 4 in order to fulfill the parking demand (refer to the attached map). According to the observation, however, some cyclists, for the sake of convenience, still park illegally at arcades, obstructing the passage of pedestrians. The Office appeals to cyclists to park their bicycles at designated parking racks instead of parking randomly, to avoid affecting the passage of pedestrians, and to work together to maintain the City’s appearance.
(The following is blank)
