Promoting Green Vehicles, ‘YouBike’ First 30 Minutes Free
According to the Taipei City Department of Transportation, YouBike, the City’s bike-sharing program, has gained popularity and acclaim since its inception. With the inauguration of the MRT Xinyi Line, additional YouBike stations have been added along the Line to offer MRT passengers shuttle services. Taipei City’s Phase-Two MRT network construction plan is nearing completion with the Songshan Line due to be launched in 2014. To encourage the use of public transit services citywide, while phasing out the reliance on motor vehicles, the city government will not only continue to give YouBike members the “first 30 minutes free” benefit, but also strive to expand the program to cover an even greater area in an effort toward realizing a cyclist-friendly city.
For help with service suggestions for YouBike, please call the 1999 Citizen Hotline (or 02-2720-8889 for callers from outside Taipei City), or 02-89785511.
