As announced by the Taipei Public Transportation Office, the underground car park of the Songshan Railway Station (address at No. 11, Songshan Rd, Xinyi District, Taipei City) will be open at midnight of October 1 (2012). The taxi queue-up zone of the underground car park will be also available for taxies. People in need of taking a taxi can go straight to the taxi queue-up zone located on the underground floor of the Songshan Railway Station.
After the underground taxi queue-up zone is open, the temporary taxi stops at the south and north exits of the Songshan Railway Station will be removed, and changed to temporary parking areas for the public; taxies are restricted from pulling up within these areas. Staff and guiding posters will be available to assist in guiding people to take a taxi within the railway station.
The Taipei Public Transportation Office further stressed that taxi queue-up zones will be planned on underground floor of newly built business buildings, transfer posts and railway stations. This not only allows more space for lining up of taxies and convenience for people to take a taxi, but also reduce the possibilities of traffic jam and accidents due to taxies going around in the city.
