Parking discounts to provide more savings for the public
Taipei City Parking Management and Development Office expressed that in accordance with the “Self-Governance Ordinance of Public Car Park Fees in Taipei City”, parking fees are to be reviewed every six months. The current review covers the period from July to December 2012. The results of the usage review led to the decision to lower parking fees for the riverside park parking lots by Keelung River at the Dajia, Yingfeng and Meiti sections. Several types of monthly passes and promotional packages are also introduced for car parks at Wan Xing Elementary School, Songshan Station, Fulin Park underground car park and Zhouzi parking tower, providing more preferential parking options for the public.
To encourage the public to utilize the riverside parks, as of midnight of August 20, 2013, parking fees of car parks at the riverside parks by Keelung River at Zhongshan District’s Dajia section and Meiti section, as well as Songshan District’s Yingfeng section, are reduced from NTD 50 to NTD 30 per entry for small vehicles. Also, daytime and nighttime monthly passes are introduced at Wan Xing Elementary School underground car park, priced at NTD 1,800 and NTD 2,000, respectively; and nighttime monthly pass at Fulin Park underground car park, priced at NTD 2,600, providing more monthly pass options for the public.
A review by the Office on Songshan Station underground car park and Zhouzi parking tower shows that the characteristics of Songshan Station are similar to that of Taipei Station; therefore, from September 1st onwards, the daily parking rate will be capped at NTD 240. However, to provide more convenience to the public working or dining during the weekends or holidays near Zhouzi parking tower, the daily rate during weekends and public holidays will be capped at NTD 100.
The Parking Management and Development Office also revealed that, according to the “Self-Governance Ordinance of Public Car Park Fees in Taipei City”, car parks with an average utilization rate of 80% should implement a fee increase. However, in consideration of the public’s financial burden, parking fees will remain unchanged for the time being for 12 car parks currently subject to the fee increase. Fee reviews will continue to be carried out every 6 months.
