Greening of bus terminals – green bus terminals
The Capital Bus held an event today (May 5) at Bus Red 32 terminal in Nankang for showing this green bus terminal. Other Taipei city bus companies were invited. This event was expected to uplift the green image of bus terminals.
The Capital Bus chose the bus terminal, “Nankang Terminal”, located on Xiangyang Road for demonstration of bus terminal greening. Greening of this bus terminal began in June last year. With passion and work of many staff, the terminal was not only redesigned but also planted with various kinds of ornamental plants. The newly built “green wall” and “driver’s happy farm” made it become a beautiful “green bus terminal”.
Commented by the Taipei Public Transportation Office, the shortage of land in Taipei City makes seeking an appropriate land for bus terminal more difficult. Yet, more Taipei citizens have the aesthetic sense of environment. The bus company tried to use green and ornamental plants to achieve environmental friendly and neighborly community (a green living place for small animals and insects). The bus drivers and terminal stuff planted edible plants at the bus terminal. When they harvested the ripe “fruits”, they felt contented with the “fruit” of their hard work while enjoying the fruits on table. From the viewpoint of company management, this work solidified the whole team. At the same time, made their workplace a beautiful garden, and drivers more passion for work.
Being an internationalized city, Taipei City government strives to provide not only the public transportation of the highest quality, but also better and more environmental friendly living community. It was expected that every citizen could make a contribution to that, and make use of public transportation more often. With the concept of green bus terminals, we could make every bus terminal an aesthetic and environmental friendly place.
