Estimated bus arrival time is still provided.
A majority of smart bus stops in Taipei City were designed to hang at bus waiting kiosks, and at where no kiosks could be established, smart bus stops were independently put up. Smart bus stops provided people the estimated bus arrival time. As the construction of smart bus stops involved with road leveling control and the work progress of Taiwan Power Company, the official electrical connection relied on the work progress of Taiwan Power Company. The Taipei Public Transportation Office would continue to work with all involved organizations to speed up the work. Before electricity was connected, the Office first established the waiting kiosks, which could shield off rain and sun.
Several types of waiting kiosks had been established since 1970s for the purpose of shielding off rain and run for people waiting for buses. In 2005, smart bus stops were added to the existed kiosks, providing estimated bus arrival time. In 2013, the Office began to establish a large amount of smart bus stops. Some existed kiosks were unable to be added with smart bus stops because the sidewalk was not wide enough. Thus, new waiting kiosks were established at the end of 2014 to create more comfortable environment for waiting for buses.
On each waiting kiosk and independent smart stops, there was a service lamp. This was to create a barrier-free and friendly environment for people to get on buses. By pressing the button to turn on the service lamp, one could remind bus drivers to stop and watch for people in need of assistance.
