New Fines for Traffic Violations
The Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act has been amended, and was implemented on July 1, 2017. In the event of a car driver’s/passenger’s improper opening or closing of a car door when the car is parked or temporarily parked, resulting in an accident of other road users, the car driver/passenger shall be fined from NT$1,200 to NT$3,600. However, in the case of a taxi or a rental car with a hired driver where the driver has already informed the passenger of his/her car door obligation, and the passenger still failed to open or close the car door properly, the fine shall be levied on the passenger instead.
Taipei City Traffic Adjudication Office herein reminds all drivers to comply with the relevant traffic regulations for the safety of all road users.
