Northbound One-Way Street Control Implemented at Ruihu Street, Neihu District (Between Ln. 171, Sec. 2, Jiuzong Rd. and Ln. 11, Sec. 6, Minquan E. Rd.) Since March 23, 2016
To solve the problem of traffic jam on Ruihui Street during the afternoon peak hours, Taipei City Traffic Engineering Office implemented a trial northbound one-way street control at Ruihu Street (between Ln. 171, Sec. 2, Jiuzong Rd. and Ln. 11, Sec. 6, Minquan E. Rd.) during the afternoon peak hours (17:00 to 19:00) on weekdays beginning Wednesday, March 23, 2016 (see attachment). The purpose of the control is to increase road capacity and relieve traffic congestion. Drivers are requested to follow the signs and traffic control personnel’s directions when passing through this section.
The Office’s improvement projects targeting the 7 bottleneck intersections and sections in Neihu District (see attachment) have now been carried out respectively. Improvement measures, including prohibition of temporary parking, reversible lane and ramp reposition are implemented at Ruiguang Rd., Sec. 6 of Minquan E. Rd., and the ramp entrance of Huandong Expressway at Sec. 6 of Nanjing E. Rd.
Ruihu Street is an important access road to Neihu Technology Park, and a connection road to several main arteries such as National Highway 1, Minquan Bridge, Tiding Blvd. and Huandong Expressway. However, as there is only one lane for both directions along Ruihu Street now, the traffic can become highly congested along the southbound lane during the afternoon peak hours. The Office thus implemented a trial southbound one-way street control at Ruihu Street (between Ln. 171, Sec. 2, Jiuzong Rd. and Ln. 11, Sec. 6, Minquan E. Rd.) during the afternoon peak hours (17:00 to 19:00) on weekdays beginning Wednesday, March 23rd. The implementation will increase traffic capacity for southbound vehicles and shorten the length of congestion. The original northbound vehicles using Ruihu Street are advised to change to Sec. 2, Jiuzong Rd. and Ln. 76, Ruiguang Rd.
