Routine inspection of Taipei Maokong Gondola has been carried out according to schedule (June 20)

The routine system inspection of Taipei Maokong Gondola this year (2013) has been completed according to schedule today (June 20). Results indicated no major faults needed to be fixed (Grade A), but only six common faults requiring improvement (Grade B). There were 15 suggestions (Grade C), and 3 excellent particulars worth commendation (Grade D). Taipei City Government should demand responsible institutions to make the necessary corrections and improvements regarding the aforementioned faults to provide the highest and safest gondola service.
According to the Taipei City Public Transportation Office, the routine checkup of Taipei Maokong Gondola covered five sections including organizational condition; operational management and service level; finance; maintenance of gondolas and ropes; and operational safety and security. There were three inspection teams- “Operation and management”, “System maintenance of gondolas and ropes” and “Operational safety team” -with inspectors invited from experts and responsible governmental staff. They pointed out faults and provided suggestions for future improvements after inspecting the system and operation of Taipei Maokong Gondola and relevant documents.
Taipei City Public Transportation Office stressed that the overall score obtained was 86.90, which was rated excellent. This shows that the Taipei Maokong Gondola had been on the right track after it was reopened with its service quality approved. Taipei City Public Transportation Office will oversee relevant inspections and demand the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation to make further improvement so as to provide better quality gondola service.
