Explanation on the English Translation Errors of New Bus Signs

On August 1st, Taipei City Council announced concern over of incomprehensible English translations of new bus signs. In response, the Taipei City Public Transportation Office explained that bus sign installation is delegated to an advertising company by the Taipei Joint Bus Service Management Center, which is jointly operated by the bus transit agencies. Starting this year (2010), new bus stops were installed in phases, expanding outward from the city center. The work is estimated to be completed by the end of September, reducing the number of bus signs and improving the design of old bus stop information. To provide passengers with accurate information, the Public Transportation Office will prompt the Taipei Joint Bus Service Management Center to address all problems by August 2nd and ensure correct English translation in the future.
