New bus route maps and fare information screen will be launched in Taipei City buses on August 9, 2011

According to the Taipei Public Transportation Office, passengers complained that words on bus route maps are too small to read, and no adequate amount of bus route maps are posted in each bus; no English labels on the “fare screen – pay when you get on (off) the bus” that is not convenient for foreigners, as shown by results of the Taipei City Bus Service Survey.
Therefore, after the Taipei Public Transportation Office discussed with all Taipei City bus companies, bus companies will design a new bus route map (including larger words, and marking in different colors about fare charging for different sections etc). The Taipei Public Transportation Office then presented the new bus route map along with the old one for the public to vote for the best one, and the new bus map was voted to be much more clear and convenient to read. The “fare screen – pay when you get on (off) the bus” will be also shown in English.
The aforementioned two new measures will be first implemented in the Taipei Bus company’s 205 Bus on August 9, 2011. People when you get on 205 Bus please pay attention to the new bus route maps and “fare screen – pay when you get on (off) the bus”. People are welcome to give your suggestions to the Taipei Public Transportation Office, and we will continuously review existing transportation services and ask Taipei City bus companies to make improvements to meet the public demand.
