In 2013, the after-school program of Taipei City Blue Road has been very popular among schools after guiding service was provided. By 6 May, more than 4,100 students from 26 schools had enrolled to this program; this number was far higher than that last year. This program is still available for all schools in Taipei City.
According to the Taipei Public Transportation Office, first launched in 2008, this program was intended to familiarize students with the history of river development, and the environment and ecological environment alongside the river and around the ports. As described in the feedbacks of the schools participating in this program, they wish that guiding service is provided throughout the tour so students could gain relevant knowledge from instructors, and this program is not only entertaining but also educative. In 2013, the Taipei Public Transportation worked along with the City Tour Guide Association, The Taipei City Archives, Huajiang Community Development Association, and the Wild Bird Society of Taipei to provide guide and instructions in this program. Professional instructors were appointed to guide students to learn throughout the tour. Questionnaires were handed out to teachers and students participated in this program in 2013, and the results were quite positive that up to 96% of them found this program satisfactory, and many of them also provided feedbacks. They were willing to recommend the Blue Road trips to their friends and relatives and more Taipei City citizens.
Stressed by the Taipei Public Transportation Office, Blue Road tour can be taken into account for schools that have not yet enrolled to this program while planning after-school programs. The Blue Road after-school program will help students understand more profoundly the river culture, and richness and beauty in the ecological environment alongside the rivers in Taipei City.
