Taipei city taxi fare comparison table voided on August 1, 2016

According to the Taipei Public Transportation Office, by end of June, more than 90% of taxies in Taipei City had been installed with new fare meters, and the installation was in progress with the remaining taxies. The Office held a meeting with relevant authorities and taxi driver associations in New Taipei City and Keelung City, and made a decision to void the taxi fare comparison table starting at 12am on August 1, 2016 (Monday). After the said date, taxi fare was charged the amount as shown on the new fare meters that avoided confusion about taxi fare charged.
For any concern about taxi fare you have been charged, please write down taxi plate number, time and location you got on the taxi, and make an enquiry by dialing 1999 Taipei City citizen service line. The Office would like to remind taxi drivers to charge fares according to taxi fare meters even if you have not yet installed the new fare meters. You will be subject to fine and punishment in accordance with the regulations set in the Highway Act, if you charge fares more than that shown on the fare meters. Again, the Office would like to reminded taxi drivers to install new taxi fare meters as soon as possible.
