Considerate bus drivers commended for providing good service

Announced by the Taipei Public Transportation Office today (October 29), the Good Manner Campaign for Bus Drivers in 2012 will be launched on October 29. The theme of the campaign designed by the Jing Juan Children’s Safety Foundation is politeness between passengers and drivers with a new addition of “considerate drivers”. It is expected more people will join in the campaign and show gratefulness to considerate drivers.
There will be four health care seminars held in November for drivers. The seminars are intended to help drivers relax and relieve mental stress, and provide them quality physical and mental health care. Every bus driver is welcome to attend. The Taipei City Bus Management Committee would like to commend bus drivers who have good manners and drive safely, and the commendation ceremony, “Commendation and Gratitude for Considerate Bus Drivers”, will be held on January 26, 2013.
People can report good and friendly bus drivers by many ways; the “Thank You Cards” will be available on bus on November 1 to December 31, 2012 for passengers to say thank you to good bus drivers. Passengers simply write in the cards and send to the Jing Juan Children’s Safety Foundation to show gratefulness to good bus drivers. Passengers sending the Thank You Cards will automatically be in a draw; prizes include Tablet PC, digital cameras, coupons and movie tickets.
According to the statistics of the Taipei Public Transportation Office, the number of excellent bus driver cases reported by passengers was 773 in 2011. Comparing with 685 in 2010, giving 13% increase. In January to September in 2012, the number of the cases was 360 higher than 881 reported in the same period last year. The statistics suggested that the Good Manner Campaign for Bus Drivers has positive influence in changing the work attitude of Taipei city bus drivers.
It is important to provide high quality transportation service while the public transportation network is approaching dense and complete in Taipei, which has become one of internationalized cities. It is expected that the good in-bus manner will be passed on, and become a new bus culture in Taipei.
