Section 4, Zhongshan North Road in Shilin District was Opened up for Left Turn to Tonghe Street for Slow Moving Vehicles Starting from August 30th, 2016

In order to reduce traffic jam problems of motorcycles going south and waiting in Tonghe Street to make a turn to the west on section 4, Zhongshan North Road, Taipei City Traffic Engineering Office (TCTEC) has rearranged traffic signals and signs and the lanes. From 10 am, August 30th, 2016, slow moving vehicles can make left turns according to the signs and signals and our staff’s instruction at the intersection.
TCTEC launched traffic circulation enhancement project at the intersection between section 4, Zhongshan North Road and Tonghe Street. Due to the huge volume of motorcycles at the waiting zones and any more contraction of sidewalk showing no positive helps, the outermost lane of section 4, Zhongshan North Road (exit of Yuansh Tunnel to Tonghe Street) changed to slow traffic lane and placed left turn signals, hoping to help release traffic jam more efficiently.
