It has been a month since the green transportation project was launched from August 1st, 2016. To compare with the ridership of the rush hour period in July before the launch, the ridership showed a 17.7 percent growth during the early bird benefit hours in August from 7:00 am to 8:30 am, and a 3.6 percent growth from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, which shows that the offer of the price benefit has shown to attract some of the people to go out early and other non MRT Wenhu line users. In addition, after adding more scheduled buses of Green 16 and Blue 50, there was a slight ridership growth for the daily bus ridership of 800 people to the MRT Xihu Station and Gangqian Station.
The Department of Transportation indicated that there might be changes in ridership numbers for the trial project of the green transportation since all schools are opened recently. There still needs a full comprehensive review after the 3 month trial periods to see the true effect.
