Taipei Intercity Express Bus is confirmed between Taipei City and New Taipei City

The Transportation Bureau of New Taipei City Government and the Department of Transportation of Taipei City Government intend to provide a better transportation service that residents can travel within a shorter time between these two cities. A committee meeting for review of the bus route was held today by these two city governments (December 8).
The Taipei Intercity Express Bus goes to various districts of these two cities by stopping at major transfer posts. It provides people rapid, convenient and direct bus service, and remarkably raises the utilization efficiency and accessibility of public transportation. The service will encourage people to travel by public transportation. With the intercity express bus, more people will be attracted to some areas, and that will result in more passengers travelling by other bus routes. The one-way traveling time of the intercity express bus is not longer than one hour; the bus goes on straight roads and provides express bus service.
A total of 6 bus companies proposed 6 new bus routes including Jinxiu Villa in Xindian of New Taipei City – Taipei City Government, Sanxia District of New Taipei City – Taipei City Government, Wugu District of New Taipei City – MRT National Taiwan University Hospital station, Linko District of New Taipei City – Yuanshan Transfer Post of Taipei City (2 bus companies applied for this route), and Neihu Road of Taipei City – Yongzhen Road in Yonghe District of New Taipei City.
The intercity express bus route was reviewed by the “New Taipei City Urban Bus Operation Committee” and “Taipei Metropolitan, Urban and Highway Bus Route Committee”. The committees have approved 5 bus routes, Jinxiu Villa in Xindian of New Taipei City – Taipei City Government, Sanxia District of New Taipei City – Taipei City Government, Wugu District of New Taipei City – MRT National Taiwan University Hospital station, and Linko District of New Taipei City – Yuanshan Transfer Post of Taipei City (2 bus companies applied for this route). According to the Transportation Bureau of New Taipei City Government and the Department of Transportation of Taipei City Government, bus companies with proposed bus routes approved will need to as soon as possible within 6 months complete preparation and begin bus operation to provide the public rapid and convenient bus service if the buses used for the new route are newly purchased; if the buses used are arranged from other bus routes, bus companies are expected to begin bus operation by end of this year.
