According to the Department of Transportation, Taipei City Government, the number of YouBike users has continued to increase following the expansion of YouBike services. Hence, the Department of Transportation and its operating agency have accelerated the speed of setting up more YouBike stations. The locations confirmed having new YouBike stations set up are posted on the Department of Transportation and YouBike’s websites. Citizens can now go to these websites for more information!
With its purpose of providing a means for short-time and short-distance transfer and commuting, station-to-station distance must be taken into consideration when expanding the scope of YouBike services, so that YouBikes can be utilized to greater effect. Therefore, with Xinyi District (where the service first became available in 2009) as the center, The Department of Transportation has expanded YouBike services to the surrounding administrative zones. To date, 64 YouBike stations have been established; 15 more stations are scheduled to be consecutively launched in the forthcoming two months, covering Wanhua, Wenshan and Datong districts, at locations such as Youth Park and NTNU Gongguan Campus. These stations will be open to citizens after passing electricity testing.
Furthermore, residents in other administrative districts will also be able to take advantage of extended YouBike services as the service expands outwardly in the near future. Almost 30 field survey sessions have already been conducted in Neihu District, and surveys are continuing to be arranged and performed in Shilin and Beitou as of the end of April. As soon as the stations in these areas are finalized, detailed information will be posted on relevant websites.
