The Parking Management and Development Office, Taipei City, expressed that in accordance with the Self-Governance Articles of Public Car Park Fees in Taipei City, parking fees are to be reviewed once every six months. This review is for the period from July to December, 2012. The results of the usage review led to the decision to lower the parking fees for the following underground car parks: Wan Xing Elementary School, Wan Hua Junior High School, Bai Ling Senior High School, Civic Boulevard (Section between Gongyuan Rd and Zhonghsan N. Rd.) and Fuqian.
Effective from April 1, 2013, the full day monthly pass for Wan Xing Elementary School Car Park will be reduced from NTD 4,800 to NTD 3,500, while that for Wan Hua Junior High School Car Park will be reduced from NTD 4,800 to NTD 3,840, a high reduction of 27% and 20%, respectively. Also, for two car parks with ample parking space during off-peak hours: Bai Ling Senior High School (1 a.m. to 10 a.m.) and Civic Boulevard Gongyuan-Zhonghsan Section (8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following day), the Office is implementing a maximum parking fee of NTD 50 during these specific periods. The public is encouraged to make full use of these advantages.
In addition, the surrounding area of Fuqian Underground Car Park is mainly office buildings, and feedback from the public shows there are day time parking requirements. Hence, from March 1, 2013 onwards, to cater to the nearby office workers, the NTD 2,400 daytime monthly pass will be launched. Those with daytime parking needs are welcome to purchase the pass.
The Parking Management and Development Office also revealed that car parks with 80% utilization rate during the review period were supposed to have increased fees. However in consideration of the burden caused by rising prices, the parking fee will remain unchanged for the time being. Fee reviews will still be periodically conducted in the future to ease the public’s financial burden.
