Bi-monthly Pass and Simplified Verification: PMA Makes Purchase of Monthly Parking Pass More Convenient

The Parking Management and Development Office, Taipei City (hereafter referred to as PMA), expressed that in order to provide the public with better monthly pass purchasing services, starting from February 23, 2013, the Office comprehensively simplified the monthly pass verification and document retention process. A pilot program of bi-monthly passes available at car parks with long queues has also been implemented for the convenience of the public.
PMA mentioned that public car parks managed by the authorities have high service quality and affordable fees. Hence, on the 25th of each month, members of the public often queue up at certain car parks to purchase the monthly pass in advance. Frequent complaints were received regarding the inconvenience of having to spend time queuing to purchase the pass. In sympathy with the public’s feedback on queuing, and in line with the survey results for 29 car parks with over 80% support for bi-monthly passes, a pilot run of bi-monthly pass sale was conducted in March of this year (2013). Statistics show that the bi-monthly pass has been well received and more than 90% of the public chose to buy the March-April bi-monthly pass. This indicates that bi-monthly passes can indeed relieve the public’s inconvenience of having to queue to purchase parking passes each month. PMA remarked that the program will run for 6 months before conducting a survey to gather public opinion on the bi-monthly pass; it will then review whether to continue the implementation.
In addition, for the purchase of the neighborhood monthly pass, vehicle licenses are only required to undergo document verification; retention of photocopies is no longer required. As for the purchase of monthly passes for the disabled, in the past, verification of disabled parking permit, disabled handbook (certificate), driving license and vehicle license were required; the process is now simplified by eliminating the verification of driving license.
PMA expressed that it appreciates the public’s support for the City government policy, in allowing such convenient measures to be smoothly implemented. In the future, the Office will continue to promote convenience measures to provide the public with an even friendlier parking environment.
