There is not yet any legal basis requiring bus service providers to install surveillance cameras on the vehicles as of now. Yet in considering that the installation of surveillance cameras around the vehicle would be helpful for complaints filing, evidence collecting, driver conduct management and the determination of responsibilities in accidents, bus service providers are encouraged to install cameras. If the number of buses installed with surveillance cameras has reached a specific level, the operator will be given extra merits in the Joint Bus Services Evaluation Criteria for governmental policy cooperation excellence, according to the fleet’s camera installation ratio.
