1. According to regulations stated in the Act Governing the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations, sidewalks are designed exclusively for pedestrians. Under circumstances that no threats would be posed to pedestrians and their traveling safety, bicycling on sidewalks (“Joint Pedestrians/Bicyclists Roadway”) - where signs and marks have been demarcated - would be conditionally permitted. Otherwise, bicycling on sidewalks should be strictly prohibited. Also, pedestrians have the right of way on “Joint Pedestrians/Bicyclists Roadway.”
2. On sidewalk sections where bicycling is permitted, bicyclists should stay on designated bike lanes, or on the right side of slow lanes. On sections where slow lanes are not available, bicyclists should always stay on the ride side of the road, and shall not encroach upon fast lanes or sidewalks. Bicyclists shall not cross the roadways where crossing is prohibited.
