Giant Bicycle Corp. is commissioned by the Department of Transportation, Taipei City Government, for the construction and operation of Taipei City public bike rentals, and will provide at least 13,138 public bikes at 400 stations for Taipei citizens to use. The rental operation will continue until December 29, 2018. In conjunction with the planning of the bike route network, reorganization of parking spaces and safety promotion, etc., the city hopes to construct a safe riding environment and provide citizens with convenient transportation solutions to connect their homes and public transport stations.

Taipei City’s public bike management is an unmanned electronic system. It offers around-the-clock service where citizens can rent a bike at location A and return it at location B. The EasyCard electronic ticket system has been integrated, so citizens can register as members for free through their mobile phone or EasyCard, and can then rent a bike using their EasyCard. In so doing, citizens may conveniently use the public bikes to commute, run errands and go shopping.
