Undisciplined parking is common in alleys. They should be regulated like major streets.

High demand for parking has caused a serious parking problem in Taipei City. This problem is especially obvious around old buildings where parking space is insufficient. In residential areas, many people park their cars or motorcycles in alleys, obstructing the way. As a result, the cityscape, quality of life, and pedestrian safety are negatively affected. Alleys should function mainly as pathways for firefighting and transportation, and thus no-parking zones and parking spaces are planned in conjunction with the traffic regulation measures to balance the functions of the road with demand for parking.
